Updating Your Home for Autumn
As the crisp autumn air rolls in, we start feeling that urge to embrace the season’s warmth and comfort within our homes. Here in the countryside of the Sunny South East, I’m surrounded by fields of hay bales, apple trees bursting to be picked, and a landscape slowly turning from green to a kaleidoscope of reds and golds.
One of the simplest ways to bring warmth into your home is by layering textiles. Think throws, cushions and rugs. Swap out your light summer cushions and bedding for heavier materials like wool, velvet and bouclé. Draping a throw over the arm of your sofa instantly makes your living room feel more inviting; my kids love snuggling up with me under a blanket for cuddles and family tv time. Layering different textures works with any style of interior to add depth and cosiness.
As the days grow shorter, lighting becomes so important for setting the tone in your home. Intentional lighting can be the difference between your home feeling grey and dull or feeling like a cosy retreat. Lamps can be placed almost anywhere! One of my favourite places for a table lamp is the kitchen worktop - it turns what can be a practical, clinical space into an inviting, elevated space. Check out our Table Lamp Collection for some inspiration!
Rechargeable wall lights and table lamps are perfect for creating that additional glow wherever you need it. Candlelight is another fantastic way to introduce an inviting ambiance. Place them on your dining table, mantel piece, or coffee table to enjoy their soft flicker in the evening. Browse our stunning Rechargeable Lights Collection to create that Autumn ambience we all crave.
Embrace Autumn by adding touches of rich warm hues into your home - think burnt orange, deep reds and burgundy or earthy browns. Adding autumnal colours doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg; look to consumable decor such as candles or flowers for an inexpensive way to change the vibe of your space. Autumn is a time of harvest and nature's abundance, a perfect time to introduce natural elements into your home. A bowl of seasonal fruits like apples, figs, or plums can serve as a beautiful, edible centrepiece. And of course there’s pumpkins...
